Zambezi Tonga
The Zambezi Tonga, divided by a dam built for Lake Kariba, number 784,000 in southern Zambia and 142,000 in northern Zimbabwe. The Tonga are receptive to the Gospel but the extreme hot temperatures and the difficulty in reaching this area has kept evangelism at a minimum. Although many Zambezi Tonga say they are Christian, the majority are steeped in witchcraft and animism.

Taabwa of Zambia and DRC
Praise God that missionaries have arrived to work among the Taabwa people of Northern Zambia. There is no one, however, working among the 740,000 Taabwa who live along Lake Tanganyika in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Only three percent of these 800,000+ peoples are evangelical Christians. Please pray that the Taabwa Bible would be completed soon and made available to so many who have never heard.

Nsenga of Mozambique
Nsenga refugees of the long civil war in Mozambique ended up in Ukwimi Refugee Camp in Zambia. When the war ended, some of these returned home carrying the Gospel with them and starting churches in Mozambique. Among the 196,000 Nsenga of Mozambique there are only 20 churches and less than one half of one percent are evangelical Christian. Responsive to the Gospel, most practice ancestor worship and animism.

Lunda
Although the Lunda people of Zambia had the Bible in their language since 1962 and early missionary presence, today less than .01 percent have trusted Christ. There are no missionaries working among these people of the Northwest Province and Copperbelt. They are a responsive people, with no one to tell them the Truth.

Mambwe-Lungu

160,000 Mambwe-Lungu people live in the northeastern northern province of Zambia and 323,000 live across the border in Tanzania. Although the New Testament was completed in their language in 1991, still less than one-half of one percent are evangelical Christians. Pray that God will make a way for this remote people group to have access to the Good News!
