Witnessing
Lead by Example
“And you should follow my example, just as I follow Christ’s.”
1 Corinthians 11:1 (TLB)
Going 20 miles probably sounds like no big deal, but to get to Maofwe
(mah-OH-fway), Zambia, those 20 miles take more than three hours
by car. As we travel, it isn’t uncommon to see people who want a ride
flagging us down. On this particular day, I had several students with me,
but there was still enough room for one more passenger. When a young
man flagged us down, I offered him a ride.
As the new passenger sat in the truck, I began telling him about
Christ. He had a lot of questions, but for the next two hours, he listened
to the story of Jesus. Just before dropping him off, the man accepted
Christ and repented.
The students and I went on to our meeting. On our way home, I
picked up another person on the side of the road. Before I even had
a chance to say anything, the students began telling this stranger of
Christ’s love and all that He had done in their lives. Praise the Lord,
this passenger also accepted Christ before parting the truck.
Before dropping off the students, I mentioned how blessed I was
when they witnessed to a total stranger. One of the students said, “Well,
after I saw how you did it, I figured that anyone could do it like that. So
why shouldn’t I do it, too?”
We often learn by example, and others learn by our example. What
kind of example do we demonstrate?

Heavenly Father, make me an example of Christ today in everything that I do.
Allow me to influence others to make correct choices and to live godly lives.
Let missionaries be positive examples to young believers who will continue to
spread the gospel. Amen.
