God Working
Night School
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)
James, our security guard, was the first Ugandan we taught about the
Bible and how to live the victorious life. He latched on to truth, and his
life dramatically changed.
Months passed, and we watched him grow. James is shy and only
has time to work and sleep. However, he desperately wanted God to
use him. We knew God had big plans!
God soon revealed that James’s ministry was right under his nose.
Most guards for his security company ride in the back of one truck and
are dropped off at their work sites. The ride to work was the perfect
time for James to reach them with the good news.
James didn’t waste any time. He knew the gospel had the power to
change lives; after all, it changed his. He went from one guard to the
next, telling of his faith and offering them the opportunity to take a
Bible course with him. Many were truly interested in learning what the
Bible had to say. Others were interested in doing the study only as a reprieve
from the boredom of sitting alone all night. Their motives didn’t
matter—they were studying God’s Word. This was an opportunity to
feed their minds and hearts. God has the power to change lives.
James now runs a “school” with more than 1,800 students studying
and memorizing Scripture each night as they guard a gate. Many
are making decisions for Jesus Christ. God does much when a heart is
willing!

Father, continue to use ministries through job contacts on the mission field.
Develop Bible studies in my own community during lunch hours of working
people. Amen.
