Spiritual Warfare

The powerful name of Jesus

“It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do
not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1 (NASB)
We sat under the stars with more than 350 of our Zambian sisters at a
women’s meeting. My mind could not stay focused on the message. I
could not block out the pitiful cries coming from a small building in
the distance.

I knew the minute we adjourned that I had to go there to pray for
those sick babies. So my friends and I trekked our way through the
darkness with the aid of one small flashlight.

When we got to the door, we saw the silhouettes of the sick and
hurting. Ivey, our translator, announced that we wanted to pray for
those who were ill. Immediately, a mass of people came forward or
called out to us.

We placed our hands on babies and mothers and prayed loudly over
all of the noise. As we called on the Healer, Jehovah-Rapha, women fell
to the floor—manifesting demons. The powerful name of Jesus, the
One who came to set the captives free, brought them to their knees.
Once we finished praying there, we moved our prayer session to a more
private place.

Some women chose freedom that weekend. They rebuked their
former masters, burned their charms, confessed their sins and began a
new life in Christ. It was an amazing show of God’s power.

There is nothing present in our lives or past that He cannot free us
from; we only have to be willing to call on the name of Jesus. John 8:36
says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (NIV).

You are the one, true God! Thank You that I have power over the evil one in the
