This page is dedicated to
bringing you up-to-the-minute requests to inform you of ways that
you can intercede for the people of SubSaharan Africa. |
From Swaziland:
One Sunday the adult Sunday School class of the Nhlangano Baptist Church prayer walked around the Regional Educational Office where the church meets. Along this route were many houses, passing vehicles and many people walking to various destinations. Prayer walking has been a wonderful tool used to open doors of ministry and evangelization. Pray the ministry of prayer walking will continue to be used to reach many lost Swazis. Pray more and more Swazis will desire to have a personal prayer life and will include prayer walking as part of their church’s ministries. http://www.swazimissions.org |

From Southeastern South Africa:
In the urban as well as rural areas in the southeast section of South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland are many young girls living in fear. They do not feel protected in their homes from boys who do not consider the consequences of their actions. Many girls will become pregnant, will leave school and very possibly become HIV-positive. These are the innocent victims of sexual abuse and rape. These are the innocent victims of AIDS. Pray for protection for girls living in situations that are not safe and lead to sexual abuse and possible death. Pray governments will take more notice of the plight of women and children and will seek to pass laws that will protect them. Pray for a safer place to live for children that will allow them to become adults with a future. |

From Sub-Saharan Africa Peoples:
With the new organizational structuring of the International Mission Board, missionaries know to expect big changes within their team/cluster. Some personnel are moving to other locations and the configuration of clusters have changed. But missionaries have learned to live with changes and uncertainties. The one thing that does not change is the many lost who do not know Jesus as their Savior. Please pray that through all the changes occurring and changes that will occur, missionaries in the Sub-Saharan Africa Peoples Affinity will keep focused on the realization there are many national breathen that do not know Jesus as their Savior. Pray for missionaries to look to the “Light” for their direction and guidance. |

From Mozambique:
Please pray for God’s will to be revealed to a couple who is looking into working with the Manyawa people. Pray for them to continue to seek God’s will for their lives, and for their part in reaching the Manyawa people of Southern Mozambique). prayerplus@imb.org |

From Zimbabwe/South Africa:
There are over a million Venda people living on both sides of the South Africa/Zimbabwe border. Though the Venda people are unique from other African people groups, their culture and language is an interesting mix from the people around them. Their vocabulary is similar to the Sotho languages while their grammar is comparable to Shona dialects. Praise the Lord, some Venda have put away their culturally traditional animistic beliefs and put their faith in Jesus Christ. Churches have been established among the Venda people but they need Bible training among their leaders. Pray 1 Timothy 6:11-12 for the Venda believers and their leaders. “But flee from these things, you man of God; and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” |

From South Africa -- World Cup Soccer:
SOUTH AFRICA. The official countdown for the 2010 Soccer World Cup is underway. In approximately 470 days, the world will literally come to South Africa. Citizens from countries that we are not able to travel to or speak freely to will have the opportunity to travel here, and hear! Much planning is being done by the South African government to make sure that all is ready. The Confederations Cup, a "trial run" for the World Cup, will be held in June of this year, 2009. Many athletes and their fans will arrive from many countries. As planning is done for the logistics of the actual matches, accommodations, transportation and other things, please be praying for the planning that is occurring by many missionaries, churches and other Christian workers.
Pray that this will be a time that many will be able to hear the Gospel in a clear and meaningful way. Many will have never heard before, pray for the volunteers that are making plans to come.
Pray for the athletes and visitors to have open minds and hearts to hear the Good News as the Lord draws them to himself.
Pray for the Lord to guide and direct all the preparations.
Pray even that the 32 teams that the Lord wishes to be in South Africa will qualify for this big event!

40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS(40/40) NEW MISSIONARY ORIENTATION.
April 22nd-May 22nd we had 39 participants and 32 children go through 40/40. We asked you to pray for many things over the month and God answered above and beyond what we could imagine. God worked in each individual life, growing and challenging them to what is to come in their future place of service. God protected as people went out into the compounds and villages and as they traveled. God blessed us with good health throughout the program. As our group went out to share the gospel and their testimonies many people prayed to receive Christ. God also granted the staff with good attitudes and strength. Thank you so much for praying for this past session of 40/40. We couldn’t have done it without you. |

From Zambia:
The Baptist Theological Seminary of Zambia prepares God-called men and women to serve more effectively in their churches. Applicants are now being processed for the 2010 school year beginning in January. Pray that the Lord will call those who would follow Him in full-time ministry. Pray for the faculty of the Seminary as they scrutinize the applicants and invite them for interviews. Pray that those who are approved will be able to raise their support and that they will be able to begin in the 2010 school year. |

From South Africa:
For the last few years attention has been given to the need for a missionary presence in the Limpopo Province of South Africa. The call can be heard from a small number of workers to please “come and help us.” Personnel requests have been submitted but still the Gazankulu, Bahananoa and Sekhukhune areas of the province do not have an encourager and helper to assist in starting new work and developing leadership. Pray for workers for this great harvest. Pray the Gospel will reach every person living in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.

From Tanzania:
“I was blind but now I see.” An old man has groped his way down dusty paths for many years. He recently was given the gift of sight in one eye as he had surgery to correct the scarring caused by his eye lashes. He is to have the second surgery next month. Please pray that he will receive the gift of spiritual sight too. Pray that he will come to know Jesus and that his family also will accept this free gift of grace. |

From DRCongo:
Last year we wrote you about a water filter factory, we desperately want to build. The factory: will make jobs for Congolese, will make water filters available for those people without one at a lower price available in the country and after 3 home visits from our evangelists we pray the filter’s owner will know and want to follow Jesus. There is a volunteer group coming from Huntsville, AL the end of April to assist us in building the factory. Pray for their journey, the availability of all the equipment needed and that God will pour out His grace on all that is accomplished for His glory!
