Dear Ministry Partners,

Praise
As you know, Robert and Margret Fortenberry, Andy Pettigrew, Keely Hart, Traci Davis, as well two students(Andrew and Terri) from the University made their way up to the village of Kang last week.  Here were some of the things that Robert had to share about their ministry there:

We spent the week doing Bible studies, some evangelistic visitation, some leadership training, and some prayer walking.  We had prayer time every night, did work out in the field in the mornings, and had Bible studies at the house (along with a few at other people's homes) in the afternoon.
The best news of the week concerns Dennis and Jones.  Margaret, Charissa, and Traci visited Dennis on Tuesday morning and Dennis made a definite commitment to Christ.  Obviously we were overjoyed to see her take that step after so much previous efforts had gone into cultivating her spiritual understanding and commitment.  Margaret took a couple of ladies with her each day and they did Bible studies at her house.  Apparently Dennis' old church (12 Apostles) heard what was going on, because they also visited her a couple of times during the week when Margaret was there.  We praise God that she continued to embrace the truth each time Margaret and the ladies talked with her, including accepting some teaching that is distinctly contrary to the false doctrine that Twelve Apostles teaches.  Please continue to pray for her to make the right choices and to have further light on the distinctions between true Biblical teaching and the false doctrines that are being pushed at her.
Jones was, as I said, the other definite bright spot for the week.  Despite his considerable responsibilities at home, he was with us every chance he had.  He went prayer walking, did some visitation on his own, attended every prayer meeting except one, and was involved in several leadership training type Bible studies.  It seems that Jones is really stepping into the gap left by another local leader’s absence.  Despite his youth, many people in the village respect him and he has lots of potential as a leader.  I have given him the job of coordinating the gatherings of the church and asking the questions which I have left for him at the Bible study time during the week and on Sunday during the service.

As you can see there are many ways we need to give praise to the Lord for His mighty work there.  Please continue to pray for the people of Kang, Botswana.

Prayer

Bill and Dana Blankenship – Please continue to pray for Bill as he travels back from the States tomorrow.

Todd and Lisa Jones – Todd walks to nearby Ledumang for Bible study at night.  This is the only time that he can meet with many of the men and women who work during the day.  There is no electricity in this area where they meet.  They all gather around a fire as many people cook their meals and heat water for their baths.  God is at work in the lives of several Tswana who are meeting with him.  A few of them have taken notebooks and have begun to copy from the book of John.  Praise God!  Please pray that God would work in the lives of those who have caused disruptions during these study times as well.  Alcohol abuse is a real stronghold for many, so there are men and women who try to disrupt the Bible study times.  Pray that the light of Jesus would shine even brighter in the midst of obvious darkness.  Pray that the Tswana disciples will utilize God’s strength in standing against these who try to constantly disrupt the work of the Spirit.

We are very thankful for your continued prayers.  We long to see every person of Botswana knowing and worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ.
MAY WE BE FOUND FAITHFUL.

With grateful hearts,

Thank you for your prayers on behalf of the University Ministries.  As you will see in the prayer item below, the ministry’s leadership along with 2 students are on their way up to the village of Kang, Botswana on a mission trip!  This is an exciting time as God has given these students a heart to reach out and encourage new believers and to share the gospel with those who have yet to hear.
One of our missionaries, Traci Davis, arrived back in Botswana at the end of last week.  In talking with her we know that our prayers were answered as she was blessed by her time with family and friends and arrived safely back in Africa with us.  Thank you for praying for her and her family!

Please pray for Bill, Dana, and their 3 children as Bill goes home for 2 weeks to visit his mother and family. Pray that his time there will be a special time especially with his mother who has been having some health problems.  Also, pray for Dana as she cares for their family here in Botswana.

This request was sent to me from Robert last week:

“A group of us will be going out to Kang for the week (Monday, 15 June - Sunday, 21 June) to do prayer walking, evangelism, leadership training, and other random church development stuff.  Andy Pettigrew will be taking a group from Baptist Student Ministries which will include himself, Tracy, Keely, and two UB students.  Also, I will be going out along with Margaret, Charissa, Moruti Jack Rantho (at the end of the week), and a couple of our local young men.
We would really appreciate prayers as the very earliest phase of the planting of the church in Kang is now concluding.  We are entering a new phase and really want to begin equipping and charging the folks in the group in Kang with the responsibility of going forward with God's task for their church.  Some are already moving in that direction.  One young man out there (named Jones) has led a couple of his friends to Christ since we were there with the Hands On Africa team.  He will only need training and "polishing".  Others are still struggling with the fact that they are fully empowered to do ministry.  They will need both training and encouragement.”

May We Be Found Faithful.
