Digo People (DEE-goh)

This is the month for love! Kids give valentines and candy hearts, while women pine for chocolate despite its effect on their figure. For most westerners, the idea of love and marriage is about companionship, faithfulness, romance, and hard work. For most Digo, it is very different. Marriage is much more of a business venture. Who is from the correct tribe and how affluent are they? That is a big question. More often than not, wives are chosen by the simple fact of which girl got pregnant. There are many rules to follow and traditions to uphold. This month, pray for the marriages of our friends here. New believers need grace and patience and courage with their unbelieving spouses. Believing families need to look to His Word in how to conduct themselves. They shouldn’t live like everyone else, but rather live faithfully in their marriage commitments treating one another according to God’s Word. Youth need to be faithful to wait for the spouse that God has chosen for them. For others to see whole, healthy lives is a tremendous testimony to God’s design for our lives and an entrance in sharing the gospel.

DIGO OF KENYA AND TANZANIA (DEE-goh). The Digo team in Kenya has seen many volunteer groups come and go in the past months. Local teams, as well as a group of volunteers from the states have been in Digoland in the past four months. Many have heard the Word of God. Some have accepted, while others want to learn more. Believers have been trained in how to share the gospel, as well as use music to communicate the truths of the Bible to local people. Now what? The more difficult task is at hand. Please pray for all the follow-up that is desperately needed. The Digo team needs to reconnect and build relationships with all these new lives that have been touched. With such few leadership, it is an overwhelming task to teach and disciple these new people in the proper manner. Please pray that those serving among the Digo will have wisdom in how to reach these communities. Pray that they will have a burden for these new relationships and won’t be distracted by lesser work. Pray that God will continue to rise up new leaders from the local believers and that many will have a burden to reach out to their communities.
