Dinka of Southern Sudan

Dinka of Southern Sudan: While the Dinka people do not yet know that rejoicing is in order, we want to share with you, our prayer partners, that it is! We now have 6 new single missionaries living among the Dinka people. After praying for workers for so long, we are so thankful for God’s love and faithfulness in calling these. They are beginning to learn some of the culture and language. The 6 will divide into 3 groups, 2 groups of ladies, and 1 of men. As they are now involved in ministry with the Dinka people, pray that these 6 would find favor with the leaders of the area, that they would progress well in their learning of culture and language, and that God will use them in a mighty way to bear much fruit among the Dinka people.  http://sudansouth.org/

Dinka of Southern Sudan: The older women looked at the new young single missionary ladies that have come to live among them in pity. While they would be considered beautiful in the states, these older women saw a huge flaw that would make them unacceptable marriage material! They had not extracted their four front bottom teeth! These older women, out of love and concern, offer to help them with extracting these teeth. Our cultures differ, do they not! Sadly, our views of what makes us acceptable to the Lord differ as well. These ladies believe that they must pray to their ancestor’s spirit and keep them happy at all costs. As these new single missionary ladies pour their lives into the Dinka people, will you pray that they will be able to be used to share how they can be truly acceptable marriage material—to our heavenly bridegroom, Jesus.  http://sudansouth.org/

Dinka of Southern Sudan: Being invited into a hut in the Dinka village to greet a new mother and her infant was fascinating. Most expecting mothers in the states would be a bit hesitant to deliver in such rural surroundings, to say the least. The area is not as clean and organized, and high tech medical equipment is not on standby for any complication that may arise. Likewise, when a person comes to know the Lord, and becomes a new creation among the Dinka, the opportunities for discipleship and growth are much more scarce. There is a great need for more people to be discipled that will be eager to share their knowledge of the Lord. Pray with us that many Dinka will come to know the Lord, and for leaders to arise from among them that can be further trained and lead in planting many churches.  http://sudansouth.org/
