DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO - In a country of 62 million people, known for war, political instability, and powerful witchcraft, there is currently one Southern Baptist missionary couple serving there. On July 3, 2009, Tyler and Jennifer Eiland will be the second. Driven by fear and desperate for peace, the Congolese people are generally open to hearing God's word and the gospel. However, their tendency to mix different beliefs (such as Catholicism, witchcraft, and ancestor worship) provides a challenge to new missionaries that are seeking to share a clear gospel message. Please pray for God to continue to call and send missionaries to Congolese people, and for God to give the Eilands wisdom as they bring the message of Christ to the Congolese in the years to come.
KINSHASA, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO - Can you imagine what it would be like to move from a small town in the U.S. to a city of 8 million people in an entirely different country? Imagine what it would be like to not know much about the language, culture, food, and customs of a new place. You would hear things you've never heard. You would see things you have never seen. Please pray for Tyler and Jennifer as they move to the mega-city of Kinshasa and begin learning language and culture in order to share Christ with those who desperately need to hear. Pray that Christ would uphold them with his promise that as they go to the ends of the earth He will be with them to the end of the age.(Matt. 28:20)

We want to say a huge "Thank you very much!" or in Lingala, "Merci Mingi!" for the job wonderfully done by the 8 university students and 2 college staff members from Lakeview Baptist Church, Auburn, AL. Some of these students shared the Lord with many college students who received Jesus as their savior and others conducted and English language club where Congolese Christians were discipled: by studying God's word, sharing their testimony with others and saying it all in English! Thanks again to Lakeview Baptist for sharing your precious students and staff with us in Kinshasa.
