Great Lakes Cluster
Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi

Basoga Team:  The Christians in the Kamuli District are not serious about sharing the Gospel or starting churches.  There is a lot of witchcraft in the area that also makes evangelism difficult.  Pray for Rob as he meets with these Christians each Monday for training, encouragement and prayer.  Pray that Satan’s strong hold of witchcraft will be broken.  Rob and Sandy have been working non-stop in the churches, with the pastors of local churches and in community outreach.  Pray for Rob and Sandy as they persevere in sharing the Good News.  Pray for stamina as they work each day with the Basoga people.
Praise:  The Christians in the other districts where Rob is working are doing a great job in sharing the Gospel and in starting churches.

Baganda:  Larry and Amanda Mauldin will be starting their Luganda lessons soon.  Please be in prayer for them as they learn and use this new language. Also pray for them as they get settled in their home and learn their way around the Entebbe/Kampala area. Praise: The Mauldins and the Pease family returned safely from their training in Zambia and are anxious to put all they learned into practice in their ministries and in the daily living in Africa.

Batooro Team: The Johnsons will be leaving for their stateside assignment in June.  Please be in prayer for them as they say goodbye to their national partners in the Lord’s work. Pray that the Batooro Christians will remain faithful in their walk.  Ask the Father to send others to work with the Batooro people in the southwestern area of Uganda.

Kampala Urban Team: Pray for our three new team members, Shanna Sanders and Angela and Gene Wright as they get settled and began their different ministries in the Kampala area.  Many teams came during the month of May to work with the Kampala Urban Team. Many decisions were made.  Pray for the team as they follow up in the different areas of town where the volunteers were working.  Praise:  Many decisions were made and many lives were touched during the recent volunteer projects.

Uganda Baptist Seminary and Bible Schools:  Classes for the Master of Divinity program in partnership with Southeastern Seminary will be held June 15-20 at the Uganda Baptist Seminary. Sixteen students will be attending these classes.  Please pray for these students, for wisdom as they begin working toward their master’s degree.  Please also pray for Dr. David Nelson and Dr. John Ewart as they prepare for their trip to Uganda and for their time with the students.

Lugbara Team:  Praise: The volunteer team from Iowa, along with the missionaries and national helpers, were able to share in thirteen different locations during the last two weeks of May.  A new storying group was started in a district 50 miles north of Arua.  Pray for the Lugbara team as they follow up on the decisions that were made during this time and for the ministries at each of the thirteen locations. Stan Walfer and the other storying group leaders have met with a local radio station about the potential of airing storying sessions. Please pray that this radio station will be open to airing this program and through the storying many will hear about God’s love and his Son.  God is at work and Satan wants to block, distract, and discourage what is happening.  The team ask that you pray that they will be filled with his Spirit and cooperate with His every move. wafler@pobox.com

Island People of Lake Victoria Team:

Traveling to the different Lake Victoria islands can be very dangerous during the rainy season. Pray for the safety of the Smiths and their Ugandan national partners as they travel the lake in evangelism efforts.

Japadhola Team:  Praise: Last month you were asked to pray for the situation concerning the lack of water in Tororo.  Water has now been restored to the area.  The Browns will soon begin “English as a Second Language” training.  Please pray for Bob and Bobbi as they minister through this evangelism tool.  Pray also for the pastors with whom they are working that they will stay faithful in their ministries and spread the Word among the Japadhola People group.

Kigali (Rwanda) Urban Team:  Praise:  The church in Gahara has recently planted a new church.  The Kigali Christians that the  team has been working with have also started a new church. The Sager family is still dealing with their visa situation.  They are also in the process of trying to re-register our organization.  Pray that they find favor with government officials.  Please pray for the new churches.  Pray that they would reach out to their community with the Good News.

Dear Prayer Partners,
The missionaries in the Great Lakes Cluster will be attending our annual regional meeting in Nairobi from June 8- June 14.  Please be in prayer for traveling safety.
The International Mission Board is reorganizing into affinity groups in order to be more effective in seeing “a multitude from every language, people, tribe and nation knowing and worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ.” Pray for the meeting, that this time together will be for God’s glory as we seek to serve Him better.
Thank you for your support through your faithful prayers on our behalf and for your generous giving through the Lottie Moon Offering.
