Have you ever had a hernia?
In rural Southern
Sudan, the Jur people take part in some elaborate customs and
beliefs. They believe in a creator god, but he is very far off, and
he punishes them in some very unusual ways. A hernia, for example,
is the punishment for shedding blood, and not allowing the
fortuneteller to plead your case before the ancestral spirits. While
the Jur people have these very distinct customs and practices that
are very interesting, the fact that they are lost and have no one
even attempting to share with them about the Lord Jesus Christ that
desires to be close to them, that is the reality. Romans 10:14 says,
“How, then, will they call on Him in whom they have not believed. How
will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they
hear without a preacher.” Pray that the Lord of the harvest will
call laborers to work among the Jur people, in order that one day,
the Jur may praise and worship the True Creator God.
