MAURITIUS, INDIAN OCEAN ISLANDS.
Please pray for an upcoming training/evangelism event on our island. We are expecting over 150 youth for our first-ever national conference. During the 4-day event, youth will be participating in workshops, worship, small groups, and outreach. Please pray that all the logistics will be figured out so that the conference can run smoothly. Please be praying that during the conference the youth will catch the vision of seeing the entire island come to know Jesus personally.
Having just returned from a 4-month furlough, workers here found that several of the church plants they had been trying to urge towards autonomy while they were present, became so while they were away! Praise the Lord that He has answered prayers asking Him “to watch over these church plants during our absence” above and beyond our requests! Not only have the few remained faithful, but they have shown significant steps towards ownership and taking full responsibility for the life of the body! Thank you for being a part of this obvious work of God.
This month, our nation recognizes the 5-day long religious holiday Divali. This "Festival of Lights" is celebrated with colorful lights or lamps signifying the expulsion of darkness and the victory of good over the evil within. There are several beliefs regarding the origin of this holiday. One popular version is it recalls the time when Lord Rama achieved victory over Ravana. Other views include celebrating the day Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura, honoring the day Bali went to rule the nether-world, marking the nirvana of Lord Mahavira, acknowledging the goddess of wealth Lakshmi, or revering the goddess Kali, ferocious warrior and divine mother of the universe. Please pray that the true God of the universe will break through into the spiritual darkness here, and the Light of the World will shine His love into every heart.
