I believe that news from Zimbabwe has dwindled after the 'agreement' that was signed. Things have not changed here. The changes that we anticipated and hoped for have been no where to be seen and the last official inflation rate was 231 million percent!! There is no way to begin the explain what is happening economically here because even living here we don't understand it. Suffice it to say that people are becoming more and more desperate daily. We have read of the economic crisis in the rest of the world that is causing great concern. I've been reading in Isaiah and Jeremiah and have been wondering if God is getting our attention so that we, as His people, are confessing and repenting and turning to Him. Proclaiming Him in our homes, towns, states, and country. Let's keep our ears and eyes and hearts open to learn from Him and to be His ambassadors.

This past weekend we had our 'in country' team together and it was an encouragement to be with each other even though it was very brief. We are all facing the same things and it was good to be able to share that with each other. We do appreciate your prayers for us in our ministries and for those around us.

The Pitts, Duncan and Tatjana, are excited about aiding in the logistics of delivering at least 500 food boxes into the Tonga area. Duncan visited the area this weekend and in talking to the chief there, found that the need is about 1000 boxes greater that the 500 we are anticipating. This distribution is being planned for mid November and we are praying that new doors of ministry in that area will open in the future. There has been very little food aid in this area and the need is desperate. Please pray for us in this ministry.

Mark and Angie Byler and Luke were here last night on their way to Botswana for a shopping trip. Most of our supplies now come from outside the country. As supplies at home dwindle, these little trips must be made. Angie wrote a great account of how God has provided the means to meet a big need for food for the hospital staff. I will include that at the end of this prayer letter. We thank the Lord for opportunities to meet the needs of those we work with.

At the Baptist Publishing House work continues on the school exercise book project. In this country, school children have to provide their work books for completing assignments in class and at home. They need them for each subject. This project plans to provide 10 books, a pencil, pen and eraser for 25,000 children in the country. The publishing house is putting these imported books together after printing gospel messages and abstinence messages on the covers for each book. Already some of the books have been completed and delivered. Since there are NO school supplies in the country right now, this will just begin to meet the extreme need for a few schools. Pray for the children though as the teachers have not been teaching most of this school year. Exams have been cancelled so this year is lost to those in government schools. Many schools are now closed. If they remain open, the students just go to class and sit. This is one of the results of no settlement and no government. Pray that when the new year begins in January, many children will have these notebooks to use and that the classes will resume. Pray that the publishing house staff will catch this vision and work hard to complete this big task. And pray that all the aging machinery will keep going. Also pray that Quinn will continue to be able to find some food---- maize, sugar, beans, oil---for the staff so that they receive at least some food each month.

Thank you for continued prayer support. Pray also now for a good rainy season. Pray for seed to plant when the rains come. Pray for crops to grow in the remotest areas so that food will be harvested soon. Pray for food aid until then to begin to flow into the country so that the starving can eat. Scenes of people on the roads picking up any maize that might have fallen from trucks that go by are not unusual since the food is just not available. Pray that we will be able to trust God to lead us to know how to help.

We are praying for you too!!! We are so thankful that we can know that God is sovereign and that His will will be done in the election next month. Pray for His direction as you vote!! And pray for a spiritual awakening in our land!! Solutions are not man made.

Blessings,

Isaiah 65:1 (NLT) "The Lord says, 'I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help. I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me. I said, 'Here I am, here I am!' to a nation that did not call on my name."
