Welcome to each of you,
Since last month, many things have been happened. We have much to be thankful about and much to share. We are so encouraged by your willingness to join us in lifting up all these matters.
We are so encouraged with “J” and his wife. He wants Kevin to continue to come and share stories and truth from the Word. Once or maybe twice a month I go and share with the women. This month I went to share with several women. I have started a series on the S*n and women in the Word. The first story I shared was the woman at the well. They willing answered questions I asked about the story and had their own questions. Each shared their struggles with forgiveness over ill treatment from other people. By looking at the S*n’s responses to such things, we found what the Word said and committed to keep our eyes on Him. One young lady caught my attention and her story went through my heart like an arrow shot from Him to me. She had a falling out with her father and after sometime went back to ask for him to forgive her. He has refused and turned her out of his home in the slum. We all talked encouraged her that she had done everything one could do. Being a child of Him she wondered if she had follow through rightly. We found truth from the Word and she felt better over the truth she discovered. I then knew what He wanted of me. I shared with her my own story. How following the call to serve Him, my own father has turned his back on me. I shared that by not turning to hatred and bitterness, the S*n can set us free to use us for His purposes and that we are to lift up our fathers to Him. All the ladies soon understood that we had more in common than they once thought. He used something so painful from my life to bring peace, comfort, and acceptance to the heart of that young lady in Kibera.
Kevin continues to go each Tuesday to J’s home and teach the people who come. Please lift up these people to gain a desire to teach others and take the stories out to other parts of Kibera. Please lift up J and his wife that they may grow strong in their walk with Him.
The girls are doing well in their home school studies. Rachel loves math and is trying to memorize facts. Hannah loves math, history, and science but drinks up all she can in history. Sarah loves language arts. They are writing papers and stories. Their common interest of late is swimming. We have found a swim coach and he teaches them once week. The ladies are excited about us using our Swahili skills again. Hannah is trying to remember many of the words she learned and has encouraged me in trying to talk in Swahili more.
We are thankful for a young Asian family who bought little “Spot”. Rachel handled well that day too. Our female dog, Angel has been successfully fixed and so no more surprise puppies either. We are also thankful for being able to move along swiftly n our packing up the house for our move at the end of June. Finally, my arm continues to heal more each day. He has been so gracious to us this past month.
Thanks so much joining us each month to lift up the work in slums of Nairobi.
