Dear 2009 Prayer Warriors,
Hope the remembrance of the birth of Jesus Christ finds you renewed in Him. I pray the New Year inspires you to pray more and more for God's love to reach the heart's of many more lost people within the next 12 months. We enjoyed spending Christmas with our son, Clayton in Nairobi. Nairobi is his home now where he takes groups up Mt. Kilimanjaro, and Mt. Kenya. He guides groups rafting down the Nile and climbs up and repels down mountains. Ministry is also a plus for him, he enjoys discipling high school students as he coaches them in Soccer. It is great to have him back in Africa!!
Mid December Rusty and I traveled to Goma, a city in Eastern DRCongo. Rusty and volunteer, Jimmy Berry met with 11 pastors to train them to share their faith with rebel soldiers located in the mountains outside of the city. The training gave the pastors a chance to practice their testimonies on those people they knew that didn't know the Lord. One lady quickly received Jesus and after hearing the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch, she was anxious to know when she would be baptized!! They were able to baptize over 20 new believers that week. The target date to trek up the mountains to the rebels was 3 January. We got notification on Sunday 4 January that 2 rebel soldiers had taken Jesus into their heart and were baptized that day!! Please pray that this experience will be contagious and revival will stretch across the nation of the DRCongo.
A group of college students from Lake View Baptist Church, Auburn, AL will be coming to Kinshasa, DRCongo 14 - 22 March. Activities such as: English clubs, discipling and doing door to door evangelism in the dorms of Congolese university students, will be ways to get to know and focus students on Christ. Pray God will use these vibrant American students to excite the hearts and minds of target students toward Jesus Christ.
We always enjoy hearing from you to know of ways we can pray for you! If you know of any individuals or groups that would pray for DRCongo please share this prayer letter with them.
Love in Him,
Rusty and Debbie |
