Dear Prayer Partners:
Daren and Shawna Davis
The rains have been extreme this year but so have the blessings. As the Davises have been saying goodbye to their friends and fellow believers it has been a time of extreme blessing. This past Sunday, believers from four churches gathered together to worship the Lord and say goodbye to the Davis family. About 20 people walked four hours one way to come to this farewell. There was much singing, teaching, testimonies and great fellowship as everyone ate together after the service. Pastor Henry Sauya preached an encouraging message and Daren taught on the importance of continuing with the Lord by teaching others all that they have learned. Please pray that the believers of Kalabo will be strong in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, will entrust all that they have learned to faithful men and women, and that they will be prepared to suffer hardship (2 Timothy 2:1-3). Please pray for the Davis family as they finalize packing before the moving truck comes across the river and flood plain on a barge and then is loaded before going back across the river and floodplain. The truck is to arrive in Kalabo by Tuesday evening in order to be packed on Wednesday. Pray for the truck to arrive on time and without problems and make it back across. Pray for the Davises as they say goodbye to their friends and home for the past 10 years. Pray for the Davises as they make this move to Gaborone, Botswana. The Davises will write more in the next two weeks to let you know how things have occurred and to give you contact information.

Dear Prayer Partners:
This is a quick update on the Davis’ move. On Monday morning two men from Lusaka arrived at the Davis home in Kalabo to start packing their household items into boxes and preparing all their furniture for the move. Then on Wednesday afternoon the truck arrived safely in Kalabo after a 24 hour cruise on a barge across the Barotse Flood Plain and Zambezi River. Wednesday night it rained hard for several hours only to stop about an hour before the loading of the truck was started. By mid day Thursday the container was shut and the truck ready for the trip back across the flood plain. It was decided that the truck needed to reverse onto the barge to best handle the weight of the container and to help the offloading go smoothly. They left about 4 p.m and by 5 a.m the next the morning the truck was driving off the barge and that is when the excitement started. The truck was pulling forward off the barge when the front tires fell off the ramp and into the water but the back wheels somehow remained on the barge. The driver immediately cut off the engine and kept his foot on the brake to keep the rear wheels from rolling off the barge. As the driver sat with his foot firmly on the brake water crept its way into the cab of the truck. Water was up to the windshield of the truck but the back wheels remained firm on the floater. After a quick analysis another driver was called to assist by towing the truck while the floater pushed forward and slowly the truck made its way out of the water and onto dry land without the container getting a drop of water. The truck was towed to a garage where the engine was checked, all the fluids drained and then tested. It was fine and made the rest of the trip to Lusaka with the Davises items safe. Thank you for your prayers. As you can see they were needed and God heard.
