"KBTC Annual Graduation"
The Kenya Baptist Theological College in Tigoni,
Kenya held its annual graduation on December 17, 2005. There were 33 graduates
receiving awards. The certificates and diplomas were presented from the
areas of Christian Education, Church Music and Theology.
The
guest speaker was Mr. Julius Thompson from Macedonia Missionary Baptist
Church, San Antonio, Texas. His message to the graduates was that
they must be servants to their flocks and that their integrity would be a cornerstone
for their ministries. Deacon Thompson said, "You have an
obligation to God to give back to your communities. And that family
and friends had sacrificed greatly so that you could come and attend
seminary." He also encouraged to them to continue their studies,
saying that a person never stops learning.
Foster Auditorium was packed with family and
friends, as well as, dignitaries from the Seminary Board of Governors and
Officers of the Baptist Convention of Kenya. For the students it was the
fulfillment of a dream and the completion of a lot of hard work.
Graduate, Alex Shiguri said that, "He was
excited about receiving his Diploma in Church Music. He said that He
thanks God for the gifts he has been given, and he wants to use his music as a
way to preach the gospel to the people."
Josphat Gathumi, said "The courses were very
challenging." And he wants to thank God for giving him the
opportunity to attend KBTC."
The graduation was led by Principal Bernard Kabaru,
along with other members of the faculty and staff of KBTC.
Special music was presented by KBTC kids.
The members of this Children's Choir are the children of the
students attending the Kenya Baptist Theological College and the KBTC Choir,
made up of undergraduate students attending KBTC.
After the graduation there was great celebration
as the graduates shared and had fellowship with family and friends.
