THE HERERO PEOPLE of central and eastern Namibia in Africa. “Ready to Hear.” The Herero people are a spiritual people. They are aware of a creator god, and seek to fill the spiritual vacuum they have in their lives. The percentage of Herero people that truly understand what a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is and have trusted him as their Lord and Savior is 11 percent. However, during recent surveys in Hereroland, over 50% of those to whom the Gospel was presented accepted the Lord! The danger is that they are willing to listen not only to the truth but also the numerous false religions and cults that abound today. There is currently no evangelical presence among the more than 150,000 Herero people. Pray for the Herero people of Namibia, that they may hear the true Gospel and come to a saving faith only given through Jesus Christ. Pray that workers will come quickly to this lost people group, the Hereros. Pray that Namibian Christians will share with their fellow countrymen the only truth that can fill the vacuum they feel in their spirit. THE NAMA/DAMARA PEOPLE of central and southern Namibia in Africa: “We want to Learn.” Amanda, a 24-year-old Christian woman lives in Grunau, Namibia. She is a single, unemployed Nama. Although she is a member of a Lutheran church, the church does not reach to unsaved people. Amanda wanted to start a Bible study in her home, but the church did not encourage it, and she had no materials. While two Christian workers visited her, they shared and discussed the principles of Pioneer Evangelism and left tracts and Bible portions from the book of John for her to use. They prayed for her mother, who had been a church leader. In the final stages of AIDS, the older woman is no longer welcome at the church. Please pray for Amanda to be strong in her faith. Pray that she will continue to have courage to reach out to the unsaved and ostracized. Pray that the members of this church will come to know the true meaning of grace, peace and mercy that comes with having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Pray for continued teaching so these forgotten people will come to know the truth of God’s Word. Adopt the Nama/Damara people for prayer by visiting http://www.forgottenpeoples.info
THE UNENGAGED PEOPLES of Namibia: "Who is Going, Who is Praying?” Knowing that there are so many lost people waiting to accept Christ as Lord sometimes makes it very difficult to accept the Church’s complacency. Some of these peoples show a tremendous hunger for Jesus, but there is a great void of evangelicals to do the work. Pray for the Church to take an interest in the Lord’s field. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the unengaged peoples: Herero, Nama-Damara, Mbalantu and Namibian Coloured. THE MBALANTU PEOPLE of northern Namibia in Africa: “The Purpose of Life.” For the Mbalantu people, life is about being prepared. Children are brought up to be useful in their house, village or clan. Girls are thought of as future wives and boys are future farmers or providers of the family. Marriage is not a choice but an obligation. There is no place for bachelors or spinsters; the need for marriage is an uncompromising fact. Pray for the Mbalantu People, an unreached people group, that they may come to know the true purpose of life. Pray that they are able to hear about the most important marriage there is and that they learn who the true bridegroom is. Pray that they come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Pray that they will become truly prepared! To adopt the Mbalantu people for prayer or for more information, please visit http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE COLOURED of Namibia: "A Glorious Holiday." In the border town of Ariamsvlei, four teenagers were enjoying their school holiday and relaxing at home. All four attended a local church. However, they did not realize that something was missing. After a clear presentation of the Gospel, all four prayed to receive Christ. They were missing a personal relationship with the One that could save them! What started out as a holiday from school became a reason to celebrate because all four found eternal life. Pray for the Namibian Coloureds. Pray for the churches, that they will strive to present the Gospel so that their members will not only have a religion but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Pray for these forgotten people. To adopt the Coloured of Namibia for prayer or for more information, please visit www.forgottenpeoples.info
THE UNENGAGED PEOPLES of Namibia:
"How will they know?" There are at least four people groups in Namibia who have little or no evangelical witness, the Herero, the Nama/Damara, the Mbalantu and the Namibian Coloured. Who will pray for them? Who will care? Who will tell them about Jesus? How will they know? Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for these unengaged peoples. Pray that Christians, Namibian and others, will be raised up to deliver the Good News to these forgotten people. Encourage others to pray for the Forgotten Peoples of Namibia. THE COLOURED PEOPLE of Namibia: “In All Circumstances!” Recently, workers were at an extremely poor area located on the border of Namibia. One family lived under a tree and had a bed and some mattresses and a table. On first entering the village, the workers were told that they were not welcome to "nose" around. The man had been drinking and was very disagreeable at first. The men continued to talk with him and soon he asked the men to pray for him. He then became their "best friend" and followed them around, introducing them to others in the village. They had the chance to lead one young man to the Lord and gave him a Bible. Praise the Lord that He works in all circumstances! Pray that God will raise up Namibian men and women who can share Christ in these remote places where many are hungry to know Him. Continue to lift up the Namibian Coloured, an unengaged people, before the Lord. THE UNENGAGED PEOPLES of South Africa and Namibia: “Open Doors.” Keep praying for the forgotten tribes of Namibia; the Namibian Coloured, Nama Damara, Herero and Mbalantu. Pray that doors will open for workers to reach these unengaged peoples. Pray that God will burden the hearts of Namibian and South African Christians to reach their unengaged neighbors with the message. THE MBALANTU PEOPLE of northern Namibia in Africa: “The Central Meeting Place!” An Owambo homestead is a circular, near spirallic arrangement of homes. The labyrinthine passages may weave in and out to confuse a stranger or an evil spirit, but all they all lead to the central meeting place, the olupale. Continue to pray that the center of these homesteads will one day welcome the Holy Spirit into their presence and that all will come to know the Good News of Jesus Christ. Pray that there will be no need to confuse strangers as the Truth is heard. Continually lift up the Mbalantu, an unengaged people, before the Lord. “Place of Safety.” Where does a young man go when he is
accused of a serious crime? In the Northern Cape town of Upington, many of
these young boys are found in a reform facility. While they are waiting for
their cases to be heard, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being presented.
Missionaries and other Christians in the area come to give hope and tell the
boys that there is another place of safety in the arms of Jesus. None respond
to the invitation on this particular day, but each one is eager to share an
item of prayer – several want to return to school, one wishes to go back
home to his mother, one has a court case the following week and one wants to
work for the Lord. The Holy Spirit is working – the boys are thinking.

us that we must do this or that to go to heaven. And once we get to heaven, we
might not stay there.” “You’re the first person to tell us what the

Even though every person and home is different, you will find a typical

conversation with a group of Hereros in a remote village; they were surprised at
what they found. The Herero’s last memories of Christians were of a time when
the Dutch started locking Herero Christians into churches and setting them on
fire to burn alive. These events occurred about 100 years ago. They did not have

“Religion abounds, where is the Gospel of

people is a mixture of empty dogma and tribal traditions. They are traditionally
a very superstitious people. For example, there are many taboos and rites

are even ceremonies that offer purification after death. Pray for the Lord to

“Belonging
to a church is enough to get you into heaven.”
A
Nama woman in Keetmanshoop, Namibia was open to hearing the
Gospel. Yet she would not pray to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Like most
Nama/Damara people she believes that joining a church allows you into Heaven. It
was confusing to her and the five others with her to grasp that they aren’t
saved by joining a church. In times past, her people have been told that they
could not work without first having a “baptismal certificate” (joining a
church). Because of that many claim to be Christians, but the true Gospel is not
widely preached to them. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the Nama/Damara,
