THE HERERO PEOPLE of central and eastern Namibia in Africa.  “Ready to Hear.” The Herero people are a spiritual people.  They are aware of a creator god, and seek to fill the spiritual vacuum they have in their lives.  The percentage of Herero people that truly understand what a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is and have trusted him as their Lord and Savior is 11 percent.  However, during recent surveys in Hereroland, over 50% of those to whom the Gospel was presented accepted the Lord!  The danger is that they are willing to listen not only to the truth but also the numerous false religions and cults that abound today.  There is currently no evangelical presence among the more than 150,000 Herero people.  Pray for the Herero people of Namibia, that they may hear the true Gospel and come to a saving faith only given through Jesus Christ.  Pray that workers will come quickly to this lost people group, the Hereros.  Pray that Namibian Christians will share with their fellow countrymen the only truth that can fill the vacuum they feel in their spirit.  To adopt the Herero people for prayer or for more information, please visit our website http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE NAMA/DAMARA PEOPLE of central and southern Namibia in Africa:  “We want to Learn.”  Amanda, a 24-year-old Christian woman lives in Grunau, Namibia.  She is a single, unemployed Nama.  Although she is a member of a Lutheran church, the church does not reach to unsaved people.  Amanda wanted to start a Bible study in her home, but the church did not encourage it, and she had no materials.  While two Christian workers visited her, they shared and discussed the principles of Pioneer Evangelism and left tracts and Bible portions from the book of John for her to use.  They prayed for her mother, who had been a church leader.  In the final stages of AIDS, the older woman is no longer welcome at the church.  Please pray for Amanda to be strong in her faith.  Pray that she will continue to have courage to reach out to the unsaved and ostracized.  Pray that the members of this church will come to know the true meaning of grace, peace and mercy that comes with having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Pray for continued teaching so these forgotten people will come to know the truth of God’s Word.  Adopt the Nama/Damara people for prayer by visiting http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE UNENGAGED PEOPLES of Namibia:   "Who is Going, Who is Praying?” Knowing that there are so many lost people waiting to accept Christ as Lord sometimes makes it very difficult to accept the Church’s complacency.  Some of these peoples show a tremendous hunger for Jesus, but there is a great void of evangelicals to do the work. Pray for the Church to take an interest in the Lord’s field. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the unengaged peoples: Herero, Nama-Damara, Mbalantu and Namibian Coloured. To adopt a people group for prayer or for more information, please visit http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE MBALANTU PEOPLE of northern Namibia in Africa:  “The Purpose of Life.”  For the Mbalantu people, life is about being prepared.  Children are brought up to be useful in their house, village or clan.  Girls are thought of as future wives and boys are future farmers or providers of the family.  Marriage is not a choice but an obligation.  There is no place for bachelors or spinsters; the need for marriage is an uncompromising fact.  Pray for the Mbalantu People, an unreached people group, that they may come to know the true purpose of life.  Pray that they are able to hear about the most important marriage there is and that they learn who the true bridegroom is.  Pray that they come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  Pray that they will become truly prepared!  To adopt the Mbalantu people for prayer or for more information, please visit http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE COLOURED of Namibia: "A Glorious Holiday."  In the border town of Ariamsvlei, four teenagers were enjoying their school holiday and relaxing at home.  All four attended a local church.  However, they did not realize that something was missing.  After a clear presentation of the Gospel, all four prayed to receive Christ.  They were missing a personal relationship with the One that could save them!  What started out as a holiday from school became a reason to celebrate because all four found eternal life.  Pray for the Namibian Coloureds.  Pray for the churches, that they will strive to present the Gospel so that their members will not only have a religion but a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Pray for these forgotten people.  To adopt the Coloured of Namibia for prayer or for more information, please visit www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE UNENGAGED PEOPLES of Namibia:   "How will they know?"  There are at least four people groups in Namibia who have little or no evangelical witness, the Herero, the Nama/Damara, the Mbalantu and the Namibian Coloured.  Who will pray for them?  Who will care?  Who will tell them about Jesus?  How will they know?  Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for these unengaged peoples.  Pray that Christians, Namibian and others, will be raised up to deliver the Good News to these forgotten people.  Encourage others to pray for the Forgotten Peoples of Namibia.  To adopt a people group for prayer or for more information, please visit http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE COLOURED PEOPLE of Namibia:  “In All Circumstances!”  Recently, workers were at an extremely poor area located on the border of Namibia.  One family lived under a tree and had a bed and some mattresses and a table.  On first entering the village, the workers were told that they were not welcome to "nose" around.  The man had been drinking and was very disagreeable at first.  The men continued to talk with him and soon he asked the men to pray for him.  He then became their "best friend" and followed them around, introducing them to others in the village.  They had the chance to lead one young man to the Lord and gave him a Bible.  Praise the Lord that He works in all circumstances!  Pray that God will raise up Namibian men and women who can share Christ in these remote places where many are hungry to know Him.  Continue to lift up the Namibian Coloured, an unengaged people, before the Lord.  Encourage others to adopt the Namibian Coloured people for prayer by visiting http://www.forgottenpeoples.info for more information.

THE MBALANTU PEOPLE of northern Namibia in Africa:  “The Central Meeting Place!”  An Owambo homestead is a circular, near spirallic arrangement of homes. The labyrinthine passages may weave in and out to confuse a stranger or an evil spirit, but all they all lead to the central meeting place, the olupale.  Continue to pray that the center of these homesteads will one day welcome the Holy Spirit into their presence and that all will come to know the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Pray that there will be no need to confuse strangers as the Truth is heard.  Continually lift up the Mbalantu, an unengaged people, before the Lord.  Encourage others to adopt the Mbalantu people for prayer by visiting http://www.forgottenpeoples.info for more information.

THE NORTHERN CAPE COLOURED of northwest South Africa: “Place of Safety.” Where does a young man go when he is accused of a serious crime? In the Northern Cape town of Upington, many of these young boys are found in a reform facility. While they are waiting for their cases to be heard, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being presented. Missionaries and other Christians in the area come to give hope and tell the boys that there is another place of safety in the arms of Jesus. None respond to the invitation on this particular day, but each one is eager to share an item of prayer – several want to return to school, one wishes to go back home to his mother, one has a court case the following week and one wants to work for the Lord. The Holy Spirit is working – the boys are thinking. Praise God! To adopt the Northern Cape Coloured people for prayer or for more information, please contact http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE COLOURED of Namibia: “A Hunger in the Desert.” When given the chance, most teenagers will avoid listening to a gospel presentation. They are at a point where they want to experience life and often believe that Jesus prevents true living. Well, in Ariamsvlei, Namibia, many teenagers eagerly wanted to hear the gospel. D. was one of these. He intently listened and wanted to know what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus. D. hungered true life and found it in Christ. There is little else to do. Many Sundays she attends a Church for non-whites. Across the main highway is a Church for white skinned people. She still lives in a world of division and empty religion. They desperately wanted to know Jesus as Lord and Savior but local churches would not allow them in their buildings. They were looked down upon because they smoke and drank alcohol. Their desire to know Jesus was rejected because of their bad habits. Four of them prayed to receive Christ that day. Pray that evangelical churches will be planted in the Northern Cape. THE NORTHERN CAPE COLOURED of northwest South Africa: “God’s Miracle.” While a small group of missionaries were surveying the Northern Cape, they had an opportunity to show the “Jesus Film” in the Afrikaans language. Yet they had no equipment to show it. The Lord performed many miracles to provide a VCR and a digital projector in a remote town with little technology. After showing the film to 58 youth, 12 stepped forward to say that they asked Jesus to be their personal Savior. THE HERERO PEOPLE of central and eastern Namibia in Africa: “Lies of the enemy.” Under the cool shade of a tree the Gospel was presented to a small group of Hereros. After the presentation of the Gospel, one man said, “What you are telling me makes sense. Everyone keeps telling us that we must do this or that to go to heaven. And once we get to heaven, we might not stay there.” “You’re the first person to tell us what the Bible says and to let us see it for ourselves,” he added. He told them that Jehovah’s Witnesses where just there, but now they know the truth. Pray for a couple who has committed to coming as missionaries to the Herero. “Pictures Without Meaning.” Even though every person and home is different, you will find a typical picture of Jesus displayed somewhere. Religion and religious pictures are not uncommon. It’s almost like a good luck ornament. Some observers may conclude that everyone is a Christian. However, most have no idea of the reality of a personal relationship with Jesus. And, very few people are sharing the true gospel. Almost all express a hunger to know more about God’s Word and Jesus Christ. Pray that evangelical churches will be planted in the Northern Cape. Two families found salvation through Jesus. When asked, none could explain what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus. It was a question they had never heard before. Each family member was asked at different times and places, yet the answers were the same. None of them knew the true gospel. He is proud of his Nama heritage. He is also proud of living life his own way. E. seemed open to hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. However, when it came time to make a decision, he left the room of the dilapidated building to escape. E. returned glassy-eyed and smelling like gas fumes. THE NAMA/DAMARA PEOPLE of central and southern Namibia in Africa: “Many like Josefat are waiting for the gospel.” Much can be said for the lostness of the Nama/Damara people. We can look at the effects of tribal religion and Christianized traditions. The truth is that there are many who are open and waiting to hear the gospel. Josefat is a Nama who gave his life to Jesus last year. He lives in a metal shack but has Jesus as his shelter. Please pray for his spiritual growth.  THE HERERO PEOPLE of central and eastern Namibia in Africa: “Untouched for Decades” As a missionary and translator began to have a conversation with a group of Hereros in a remote village; they were surprised at what they found. The Herero’s last memories of Christians were of a time when the Dutch started locking Herero Christians into churches and setting them on fire to burn alive. These events occurred about 100 years ago. They did not have radio or television. On that day they finally heard about the God who loves them and sent His Son, Jesus, to save them. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the Herero, an unengaged people group. To adopt the Herero people for prayer or for more information, please visit http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE NAMA/DAMARA PEOPLE of central and southern Namibia in Africa: “Religion abounds, where is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?” Much of the religious practice of the Nama/Damara people is a mixture of empty dogma and tribal traditions. They are traditionally a very superstitious people. For example, there are many taboos and rites associated with water. THE NAMA/DAMARA PEOPLE of central and southern Namibia in Africa are considered an unengaged people group. Every week many graves are dug and filled with victims in the small town of Keetmanshoop. New victims of HIV/AIDS devastation are a reminder of the desperate need for Jesus. The Nama/Damara people were once forced to join churches to receive baptismal certificates to qualify for employment. Most have no idea what it means to be saved. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the Nama/Damara. Pray for the Lord to send evangelical missionaries.

“Belonging to a church is enough to get you into heaven.”

A Nama woman in Keetmanshoop, Namibia was open to hearing the Gospel. Yet she would not pray to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. Like most Nama/Damara people she believes that joining a church allows you into Heaven. It was confusing to her and the five others with her to grasp that they aren’t saved by joining a church. In times past, her people have been told that they could not work without first having a “baptismal certificate” (joining a church). Because of that many claim to be Christians, but the true Gospel is not widely preached to them. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the Nama/Damara, an unengaged people group. THE HERERO PEOPLE of central and eastern Namibia in Africa: “Where are the Christians?” Ten members of a Herero family prayed to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior! Afterwards the head of the household explained that it has been two years since a Christian has been in their town. The Christians that did come did not tell them how to be saved. They did not tell them the importance of reading the Bible or worshipping the Lord. Now they know and a house church is started. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the Herero, an unengaged people group. To adopt the Herero people for prayer or for more information, please visit http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

THE HERERO PEOPLE of central and eastern Namibia in Africa: “Time for a Change” After hearing the Gospel presented, a young Herero mother prayed to receive Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She told them, “I’ll have to change my church, I will lose many friends and things will be different around here.” The Christians who lead her to the Lord told her that they were not telling her to change to another church. She responded, “It is time for a change around here.” The Holy Spirit had worked in her life to desire to follow Jesus at any cost. Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the Herero, an unengaged people group. To adopt the Herero people for prayer or for more information, please visit http://www.forgottenpeoples.info

“Waiting to be told the Gospel”

Godhard is a Herero and a police officer in the small town of Okakarara, Namibia. He was standing outside a fence watching three Christians telling people about Jesus. He asked them what they were doing. When the translator explained it, he invited them to his home just a few steps behind the jail. All four sat under a tree on old metal chairs in his sand yard. He heard the Gospel and prayed to receive Christ. Afterward he explained that he has been “waiting for someone to come and tell him God’s Word.”  Pray for the Lord to build prayer support for the Herero, an unengaged people group
