God is at Work in Northern Mozambique
This is an exciting "God at Work" story. Yesterday (August 17) workers in
Northern Mozambique were on lunch break between Bible teaching sessions at
two villages. While there, a young man arrived and started talking to the
Mozambican co-worker. After talking to the young man for a short time, the
Mozambican called worker over to participate in the conversation. This
young man had walked from his home to where we were (about 2 km) hoping to
find us there. He had come to ask what he must do to follow Jesus. We sat
down with the young man and explained the gospel to him using the "Two
Roads" illustration. The young man said he understood and was interested
in learning more about Jesus. Making an appointment with him to come to his
house and talk more with him about starting a Bible Study at his house.
The worker then felt led to ask him if he was ready TODAY to make the
decision to follow Jesus. He said that he was. When asked why he had
decided to follow Jesus, he said that he had first heard the gospel one
time at one of the Bible Studies led in the area. He had asked these workers
for a lift to town that day and attended the Bible Study there. Since that
time he had been thinking about what he had heard. Some of his relatives
had recently decided to follow Jesus. One night recently, he had a dream.
In this dream he heard a voice say to him something to this effect: Why do
you hesitate? The decision your relatives have made to follow Jesus is a
good decision. You should also follow Jesus. When he woke up from his
dream, he "was not disobedient to the heavenly vision". In obedience to what
he had been told, he decided that he needed to go look for somebody who
could tell him how to follow Jesus. He thought of these workers since he
knew that they were teaching in the area.
Upon hearing his testimony, the
workers were convinced that he was ready
and asked if he was ready NOW to
pray and invite Jesus into his life. He said he was. They then explained
to him how to pray and led him in a prayer of repentance. The young man
prayed to receive Christ and then the pastor's wife prayed for him. Please
pray for this young man as he starts his new life in the Lord. He was told
that the first thing he needed to do was go tell his family about his
decision.
Please pray for wisdom for these workers as they teach and
disciple this brand new believer. Thanks so much for your faithfulness in
continuing to pray for workers in Northern Mozambique and for God's work
there. It is because of your prayers that workers have these opportunities
and are seeing these results.
