On July 26, 2004 the
Baptist Mission of Kenya transferred the ministry of Kenya Baptist Media to the
Baptist Convention of Kenya. After nearly 25 years of operation under the
Baptist Mission of Kenya, the responsibility of this ministry of translating and
producing materials for evangelism, discipleship, church planting, leadership
development and the Kenya Media Bookstore has passed to the Baptist churches in
Kenya.
"These are exciting days of partnership", Jon Sapp, regional leader
stated to the employees of this ministry, the Baptist Convention leaders, and
guests and friends, "as we transition the responsibility of providing
resources for growth and development to the Baptist churches here in
Kenya." Every
employee received thanks for their faithful service and the Convention will be
making decisions about the future direction of the work. Rev. Joseph Maisha said
that the Convention would like to see a decentralized approach taken in the
media ministry. "We are excited about assuming this important ministry and
look forward to continuing the work begun many years ago by the missionaries,
Rev. Maisha said.
In the immediate future the ministry will remain in its original location as
details concerning the future location have yet to be determined.
