VIRTUAL PRAYER WALK MAP

FOR

THUNZINI BAPTIST CHURCH

After completing the Bible Way Correspondence Course, Nomsa Mkhonta came to us and said she wanted to know more about the Bible.  She attended the AmaZioni Church but with her children she boarded a bus from her home in Thunzini to our home where the Nhlangano Baptist Church met (1996) to learn more about the Baptists.   Wayne asked if we might come to her home and start a Bible study. Nomsa said she had to ask her father.  She did and he consented for us to come weekly and conduct a Bible study at their home but he was not interested in the Bible study becoming a church.  He had his church (AmaZioni). But an amazing thing happened. Mr. Mkhonta came to know who was Jesus and accept Him as His Savior.  In 1998, the Mkhonta Bible study became the Thunzini Baptist Church.

“I must go back to my church once in a while and tell them about Jesus.”  After his salvation experience, Mr. Mkhonta shared he knows the AmaZioni way is not right and occasionally will go back to his old church and testify about Jesus.  The Mkontas also have chosen not to participate in traditional ceremonies and activities that are contrary to the Christian way of life.  Pray many Christians in the Thunzini area will also make the same commitment as the Mkhontas to follow Jesus instead of the cultural way.  Pray for the Mkontas to continue to be strong in their desire to fully follow Jesus.

The Thunzini Baptist Church is approximately 10 kilometers from Nhlangano and travel takes about 10 minutes.  Along the way we will pass the Nhlangano Sun Hotel, several homesteads, a primary school, several shops, a couple of churches, a few cows and many people walking the tarred road.    We also will pass the home of Mrs. Nsibandze who is a great help in children’s and ladies’ ministries.  At the Thunzini

Baptist Church she is the children’s Sunday School teacher and also helps train others in the Shiselweni Region to teach children.  Pray many will feel the call of the Lord to lead and guide the work with children in their churches in the Shiselweni Region.

The Swazi children and youth are the future of the Swazi Baptist churches. The Thunzini Baptist Church needs youth to commit to becoming strong leaders.  Pray a strong youth program will be developed to train youth to become Christians and spiritual leaders.

The Thunzini Baptist Church also provides a preschool that meets five days a week from 8:00am-12:00pm.  This year the school has an enrollment of approximately 25 students.  Pray for this preschool to be strong in preparing children for their school years and be a wonderful witness in the community of Thunzini.

This is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and dept of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and  blameless until the day of Christ.  Philippians 1:9-10

When Pastor Dlamini was asked, how can we pray for the Thunzini Baptist Church his response was, “Pray for our spiritual growth. And pray for the church to have Solomon’s wisdom and more Joshuas and Ruths of this day.”
