VIRTUAL PRAYER WALK MAP
FOR
NHLANGANO BAPTIST CHURCH
The
Nhlangano Baptist Church began in our home shortly after we moved to Nhlangano
in 1994. In 1995 we started meeting
at a training center but after a few months returned to meeting in our home.
The church has
also met at the Nhlangano Library and is now meeting in the Regional Education
Office. In the early years there
were few attending but the Lord has blessed in providing wonderful opportunities
for this church to develop leaders and future pastors of Baptist work in the
Shiselweni Region.
The Nhlangano Baptist Church is approximately 1
km from our home. After leaving our
house we past an apartment building, turn right and go straight until we reach
the Regional Education Office. There
are a few homes along the way and little activity is seen from them at 8:45 on Sunday morning.
Thulie
Vilane (pictured) prepares each Sunday to teach the adult and older youth Sunday
School class. She is a faithful
member and leader of the Nhlangano Baptist Church.
She also helps along with Annah Thwala,* with the translation of
discipleship materials from English to siSwati, a very important ministry.
Pray
the many who are taught in the Word at this church will have a desire to study
and learn more about the Bible. Pray
also the ministry of translating materials from English to siSwati will continue
allowing Swazis to read and understand the scripture and who is Jesus. J
*Annah
Thwala was the first convert of our ministry in Nhlangano and has been a member
of the Nhlangano Baptist Church
since 1994. She still attends and
teaches the children’s Sunday School class.
The Nhlangano Baptist Church does not have a
pastor but Wayne and Makhosi Mkhonta (pictured) make sure each Sunday the Word
is preached. Makhosi is a student
and feels the Lord can use Him in his work.
Pray
for Makhosi to continue to seek the Lord’s will concerning his life.
Pray the Lord will continue to provide the leadership needed to lead and
guide the church.
There are a good number of youth who regularly
attend the church. Many display
strong leadership qualities and are faithful to attend Sunday School and
Thursday night Bible study as well as monthly youth meetings.
There are also quite a few children who attend, although their attendance
is not as regular as the youth. Pray
for the youth of the Nhlangano Baptist Church to continue to be faithful and
will make a point to invite their friends who do not attend church or know Jesus
as their Savior. Pray the children’s attendance will be on a more regular
basis.
Nhlangano
is a town that has many churches, some have their own buildings, many meet in
schools, at the library and in buildings like the Regional Educational Office.
At one time there were 16 churches for a town with approximately 4,000
residents. But many in the town are
still lost and do not know Jesus as their Savior. Walking home from church, we
see many coming from the Spar (grocery store), walking
around town or going to certain destinations.
Pray
the members of the Nhlangano Baptist Church will have a desire to see the many
lost in Nhlangano come to know the Lord. Pray
for the church to be a witness of Christ’s love.
